When evaluating a used Caterpillar 305.5E2, verify the complete serial number and configuration before comparing specifications. Inspect a true cold start, smoke and blow-by, hydraulic speed under load, main-pump noise, swing bearing play, boom and stick weld areas, bucket linkage, travel performance and final drives. Compare the hour meter with ECM data or service records when available, and measure undercarriage wear rather than relying on appearance. Request dated photos and one continuous operating video. Confirm repainting, repairs, attachments, actual transport dimensions and destination-port requirements for the individual machine before quotation or payment.
